Moses Adeoye, the treasurer of Ekiti state chapter of the All Progressives Congress APC
Unknown gunmen have killed Elder Moses Adeoye, the treasurer of Ekiti state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The incident, which family members said took place on Wednesday night around 9pm in his Otun-Ekiti country home, in Moba Local Government Area of the state, has thrown the entire community into panic and mourning.
According to Daily Trust, the gunmen invaded his home while eating dinner and shot him dead.
Before his death, the late APC treasurer had served as the chairman of the APC in the local government.
Police Public Relations Officer in Ekiti state, Caleb Ikechukwu, confirmed the incident adding that the police had launched investigation into the case.
“The case has already been reported with the police and our men have swung into action. We have started our investigation to make sure the perpetrators are arrested. We commiserate with his family and assured the people of Ekiti state that the police are on top of this matter,” he said.
In its reaction, the state APC Public Relations Officer, Ade Ajayi, described his death as “sad.”
Ajayi said the deceased was on the entourage during Governor Kayode Fayemi’s ‘Thank You’ visits to Ekiti North and South Senatorial Districts in Ido and Ikere-Ekiti on Wednesday.
The Chairman of the party, Mr. Paul Omotoso, while consoling the family of the deceased, expressed shock and sadness about the devastating news.
Barrister Omotoso described him as a responsible, honest, committed party man and agile praying that such would not happen again.
