An aspirant who contested in the recently concluded APC legislative primaries in Ekiti State, Olayinka Olafemi Daniels, has said the ruling party will find it difficult to get the required number of votes for President Muhammadu Buhari in the 2019 presidential election if it goes ahead to field unpopular candidates in the state.
Daniels, who ran for Ekiti Central, Ado, Irepodun and Ifelodun Federal Constituency of the House of Representatives, said there were no primaries in Ekiti State.
He described as a conspiracy against President Buhari alleged attempts by some party leaders to foist unpopular candidates on the people.
Daniels, in an interview in Abuja, said any attempt by the party leaders at the national level to succumb to the manipulations at state level might force the people to vote for the opposition party, thereby costing the president the required votes.
He claimed that the candidates were picked based on their relationship with the governor.
