Some delegates from 21 wards of Isa-Sabon Birni federal constituency have stormed the secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Sokoto state, protesting alleged plan to replace the winner of the recently conducted primaries with a sitting national lawmaker.
It would be recalled that a member representing Isa-Sabon Birnin Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Engineer Aminu Isa had lost his ticket to a 34-year civil servant, Bello Shehu Suleiman at the primaries which suffered series of postponement.
The delegates including women arrived the Secretariat around 2:30pm on Tuesday in a long motorcades and where received by the deputy chairman of the party.
They accused the national headquarter of the party of planning to replace the winner with the sitting member who was not even at the venue of the primaries.
According to Daily Trust, Suleiman had defeated the sitting lawmaker with a landslide as he scored 591 votes out of the 599 votes cast while he scored only seven votes while one vote was declared invalid.
“We will resist this planned injustice because he (Aminu Isa) is not our choice. We did not vote for him because he failed us as our representative,” the spokeman of the delegates, Aliyu Bello Isa said.
Bello alleged that Isa didn’t come to condole them when they lost a prominent traditional ruler in the area, the late Sarkin Gobir, Sabon Birni and the mother of one of the party’s leader in the area Danchadi.
He further alleged that the members had not deemed it fit to condole the victims of the recent flood disaster and cholera outbreak in Sabon Birni, reiterating that lawmaker has failed and abandoned his peoples.
On the winner, Bello said ” Suleiman is the pillar and the one looking after the party in the zone. He is always there with us and stand by us no matter the siruation. That was why we gave him our votes during the primaries.
The delegates who were in hundreds , however, threatened to work against the party in the next general election unless the party acted on their demands.
The deputy chairman, Alhaji Hassan Dangote was said to had assured them that the national headquarter would look into the problem and do the needful.
