A socio-political group, Network for Advancement of Democracy (NEFAD), has endorsed the candidatures of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as the next President and Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State for the 2019 general elections respectively.

Briefing newsmen in Abakaliki, National coordinator of NEFAD, Dr. Chike Onwe, said the group is made up of public-spirited individuals and professionals who are well-versed in the tenets of governance in the country.

According to him, the group has resolved to contribute to the advancement of democratic values by generating support for the continuity of good governance and sustenance of the socio-economic and political development of the society.

Continuing, the group commended the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) “for the great outing in the just-concluded National convention in Port Harcourt which produced Atiku Abubakar as its presidential flagbearer.”

It stated that the convention truly reflects the will and yearnings of the Nigerian people, stating that Atiku’s emergence as the standard bearer of the party, the PDP for the 2019 presidential election there is optimistic that given his profile in leadership and business, he would deliver a new Nigeria that Nigeria people shall all be proud of.

On the analysis of Ebonyi political dynamics, NEFAD stated that Umahi has demonstrated his understanding of quality of the dreams of the founding fathers for a geographical area which had suffered untold woes in the hands of gladiators.

The group further review that the good people of Ebonyi State should irrespective of political, social and religious differences to join in the crusade to re-elect the State Governor, Umahi into office for the second term come 2019.
