The newly-formed Association of Anambra Entertainment Practitioners (AASEP), has decried the absence of night life in the state and resolved to restore active social life, as well as create 10,000 jobs in the state which boasts an abundance of talented stars in the nation’s entertainment and related sectors. As part of the plan, the association has scheduled four “earth-moving events” this year that will reposition Anambra and make the public see it as the centre of entertainment.
This was part of the resolutions at AASEP’s second meeting held recently at the Goldfins Hotel, Awka, the state capital. Among dignitaries at the meeting was the renowned musicologist/former University of Lagos lecturer, Prof Laz Ekwueme, now the Igwe of Oko, who was the royal father of the day and member of the AASEP Board.
In a statement signed by the National Secretary of the association, Mr Stanley Chira, and made available to News Express, AASEP also resolved to bring all entertainers and footballers of Anambra State extraction under one umbrella as well as partner with Governor Willie Obiano because of his insight and commitment to urbanise and create jobs for indigenes of the state.
According to the communique issued at the end of their meeting, AASEP will achieve some of the foregoing through various programmes including the four events described as earth-moving which are adjudged capable of changing people’s perception of the state entertainment-wise:
*Anambra Gat Talent
*Project Anambra Entertainment Trust Fund
*AASEP Entertainment Award
*Anambra Film/Music Festival.
In appreciation of the governor’s drive to make the state secure for all, the association plans to make Obiano (Akpokue dike Aguleri) Grand Patron of AASEP, patner with his government in creating 10,000 jobs through “Anambra Gat Talents,” and in honouring Anambra stars, with a view to making them cultural ambassadors.
The group also resolved to honour indigenes who made the state proud at the recently concluded AMAA Awards in Bayelsa State by winning laurels. These are Clarion Chukwura (Best Actress), Bob-Manuel Udokwu (Best Face), Teco Benson (Best movie in Nollywood) and Tai Obasi (Runner-up for the Best Script Writer).
AASEP has equally made plans for full representation and active participation at the burial of talented Amaka Igwe, Ozoemena Nsugbe and Lizzy Ogbodo, who have been accorded posthumous membership.
