The intercepted illicit substances
By KENNEDY SHEYIN
The Nigerian Navy has intercepted 500 litres of products suspected to be illegally sourced Automotive Gas Oil (AGO) and substances suspected to be Cannabis sativa during an operation in Folu Community, Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos State.
This is contained in an operational report by the Director of Naval Information, Capt. Abiodun Folorunsho made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Abuja.
According to Folorunsho, the operation was conducted by personnel of Forward Operating Base (FOB) LEKKI on Monday as part of ongoing efforts to curb the Illegal trade and storage of petroleum products as well as the proliferation of illicit drugs within the Base’s Area of Operations.
“The suspects fled the location before they could be apprehended, while the recovered exhibits were secured and conveyed to the Base for further investigation and appropriate action in accordance with established procedures,” he said.
According to him, the operation underscored the navy’s commitment to disrupting activities that threaten national economic interests, public safety and security within its Area of Operations. (NAN)
