Delta State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, CON, yesterday paid glowing tribute to the late former Military Administrator (MILAD) of the state, Col. John David Dungs, as he was laid to rest in Jos, the Plateau State capital.
Represented by the Deputy Governor, Prof. Amos Utuama, SAN, the governor praised the late MILAD for “his commitment to sustainable development,” adding that the state was “still building on the foundations he laid.”
According to Uduaghan, “Col. Dungs led a most peaceful life, always keen on helping and giving to the less privileged. No doubt, his foray into politics would have been aimed at expanding and strengthening his capacity to assist, to lift and prop those who needed his help most.”
The governor praised Dungs’ gallantry during the Liberia Civil War as he was a “member of the team that seized a gunboat from the Charles Taylor-led rebels, capturing 27 of the rebels during the civil war in Liberia.”
He also praised Dungs for bringing his training as an engineer from the famous Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) Ife to bear on all he did after settling down, “first at Abuja before politics brought him back home to Jos.”
Uduaghan urged the widow, Chief (Mrs.) Victoria Dungs, to always remember that her late husband touched the lives of many people positively and therefore be encouraged by his good deeds.
Earlier, Plateau State Governor, Jonah Jang, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prof. Shedrack Best, also praised the late Dungs for leading a good life.
Also there to pay their last respect were the Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Titus Ayuba Alums, and the GOC, 3rd Division, who was represented by Brig.-Gen. Leo Irabor.
