The Imo state chapter of the Nigeria Association of the Blind, NAB, Monday, cried out over what they described as the continued refusal by the state government to listen to their plights.

The group, led by Christopher Kalu, said they were bothered the kind of treatment received from the government, adding that the issues they had outlined some years ago were not addressed even at the moment.

It will also be recalled that the visually impaired claimed they had protested for the third time in the state without getting the deserved attention from Rochas Okorocha’s led administration.

Kalu recounted among other things “The government promised us that they will establish a Special school for the blind and up till now we have seen nothing.

“Some of us had to travel outside the state in search for school for the blind and we have a government that is talking so much about free education.”

He added that “Okorocha promised us in 2013, that he was going to build a school, do you know that we have not seen anything even as I am talking to you.

“We don’t receive our bursary allowances for over six years.”

He was disturbed that despite the plethora of promises they had seen nothing from the government.

Kalu claimed that the government had also promised their members employment as well as creating empowerment opportunities for them but there was nothing to show from the government.

At the time of filing this report, Kalu was said to have been invited to meet with a government official inside the government house and by the time he came out he told his members he was not satisfied with the position of the government official on their demands.
