Lagos mourns as ex-Governor Otedola dies

It’s a sad day in Nigeria’s former capital, Lagos, following the death of one of its former governors, Sir Michael Otedola.

Otedola, who held sway as Governor of Lagos State from January 1992 to November 1993, died this morning at age 88, according to a family statement.

He had clung to life after suffering a massive stroke years but finally gave up this morning.

Incumbent Lagos Governor Babatunde Fashola has ordered flags in the state to fly at half mast in honour of the departed patriarch of the Otedeola family of Epe whose most famous son is

billionaire oil merchant Femi Otedola of Forte Oil fame.
