Gunmen suspected to be members of the Boko Haram yesterday attacked a village market in Borno State, shooting sporadically on the marketers, the Hausa service of the British Broadcasting Service (BBC) reported.
Residents were quoted as saying that the terrorists stormed Kayamla Market near the capital city of Maiduguri yesterday afternoon and immediately started shooting at everyone on site.
An eyewitness told BBC: “The sect members entered the market and began to shoot anyhow; they even shot our driver.”
The number of casualties in the attack is estimated to be in scores.
