Update: SCORES REPORTED DEAD IN FRESH NYANYA ABUJA BOMB EXPLOSION

Scores have been reported dead in the explosion, believed to be from a detonated bomb, which rocked Nyanya, a thickly-populated suburb of Abuja, the Nigerian Federal Capital, minutes ago.

As previously reported by News Express, the deadly explosion occurred on the opposite side of the scene of the April 14 twin bomb blast at the Nyanya bus station, which officially killed over 70 persons and injured over 200.

This evening’s blast occurred just as people were finding their way home after ceremonies marking this year’s Workers’ Day graced by President Goodluck Jonathan and other top government officials.

Last fortnight’s twin bomb blast had occurred during rush hour (around 7am) when a vehicle laden with Improvised Explosive Device (IED) exploded in the busy bus stop where commuters board government-operated luxury buses.

The Boko Haram terrorist group later claimed responsibility for it.
