Ex-Kaduna NUJ Chairman, Garba Muhammad R, handing over to his successor, Adamu Yusuf
Former Chairman of Kaduna Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Comrade Garba Muhammad, has called for stronger tie and unity of purpose among members of the union.
He made the call while performing ceremony for the handing over of the union to his successor Comrade Adamu Yusuf, Sunday at the council secretariat in Kaduna.
He expressed delight over the maturity demonstrated by responsible members of the Union during a leadership face up that decided the union two years ago.
He stressed the need for members to always strive to resolve their differences among themselves within the ambit of the council.
Mr Muhammad, whose purported impeachment while in Saudi Arabia to perform hajj, led to a sharp division of the council and a court action. The matter was later settled out of court, he returned to office and voluntarily resigned.
Responding, his successor Comrade Adamu Yusuf expressed happiness, saying the unity of the Union remains sacrosanct and would continue to remain indivisible body despite all odds.
While he expressed satisfaction with those who work tirelessly to ensure the unity of members of the Union, Yusuf urged members to always forgive one another.
According to him, the interest and welfare of members will remain the priority of his administration.
Present at the ceremony at the secretariat of the Union includes former chairman of the Union, Inuwa Kajuru, chapel officers, former Secretary, Gabriel Ude Idibia, among others chapel leaders.
