The Lagos State Government has urged consumers to report online vendors who deliver goods different from what they ordered, as part of efforts to address unfair business practices.
The Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency gave the advice in a consumer awareness message on Monday, urging residents to speak up when products purchased online fail to meet the descriptions or quality promised by sellers.
The agency said consumers should not remain silent when they receive goods that differ from their orders.
“Goods or products you order online should be delivered as promised.
“If the items delivered do not match their descriptions, are different from what you ordered, or fail to meet the expected quality, do not keep silent!” the agency wrote on X.
LASCOPA further urged consumers to take action against vendors who failed to fulfil their obligations.
“Speak up and take action,” the agency advised.
It encouraged affected consumers to register complaints with the agency, particularly in cases involving unfair business practices by online sellers.
“Register your complaint with the Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency (LASCOPA) against unfair business practices,” the statement added.
The agency provided a toll-free helpline, 080 0005 2726, and an email address, lasgcopa@gmail.com, through which consumers can reach it to report complaints.
Reaffirming its commitment to consumer rights, LASCOPA stated, “In Lagos State, consumers are kings.” (The PUNCH)
