Bandits have reportedly kidnapped 40 passengers at Kwanar Dutse near Ladi village along Birnin Gwari – Kaduna Road. The abduction was said to have taken place on Saturday night.
Mohammed Sani, a relation of those abducted who spoke withNews Expresson Sunday, said the Bandits numbering 30, all armed, accosted the truck and a bus they were travelling in.
“They accosted us at Kwanar Dutse, near Ladi, they abducted 40 passengers; out of which 30 of the victims are relations travelling from Manigi, Niger State to Kaduna.
“There are 18 women and one baby among those kidnapped.
“They have demanded for N3million ransom for a set of family.
“The police in Buruku were insisting we give them money before they escort us to recover our vehicle,” Mr. Sani alleged.
Spokesperson of the police, Kaduna State command, however, denied the allegation, adding that the numbers of people kidnapped are “exaggerated”.
He said he is not aware of the Saturday attack, but the command was able to rescue two victims in a gun duel on Friday, as a result of which one person was killed and one other person injured is currently receiving treatment at Buruku.
“There is also a strategic deployment of Police Mobile Force along that axis. We are calling on the general public to stop exaggerating the kidnap cases in that area,” he added.
