ISBA President, Comr Chinedu Hardy Nwadike
Members of Imo State Bloggers Association (ISBA) will on Thursday, May 31, 2018, hold their first hangout to educate interested members of the public on how to optimise their use of the social and New Media.
The event which will feature teachings and interactive session, according to the President of the Association, Comr. Chinedu Hardy Nwadike, will serve a dual purpose of educating members of the association as well as interested members of the public.
Comr. Nwadike said the event is timely as ISBA members will not only be equipped with ethics of practising in the media industry but will get to learn the latest trends and strategies that make a good blogger.
“Beyond blogging, we are looking at turning hobbies to businesses. We want to make people understand how they can package their knowledge of the social media to make genuine money from it.
“We want to teach and also inspire fresh and aspiring bloggers to understand what they have to and how they’ll have to go about it since the New Media is taking over the world,” he said.
Comr. Chinedu Hardy Nwadike further said that to achieve the goal of the event, they will be having a BBC Certified tutor and Manchester University trained media expert Prince Odunze, who is also the Special Adviser on Media Production to Imo State Governor, as a guest speaker.
Others billed to speak at the event are Comr. Kingsley Chukwuemeka and Comr. Ikechukwu Nwachukwu with the duo and the guest speaker expected to do justice to the theme of the event ‘Seeing Beyond New Media Trends & Strategies’.
He frowned at the ‘unprofessional’ tag bloggers often receive in the state and beyond, adding that fake news often trends online because sources of the real news are often shut when online media practitioners want to access it.
He then called on well-meaning individuals and groups to partner with the bloggers to ensure that sanity is brought to the online and social media in the Imo State,
“This won’t be the last, but the beginning as we are looking forward to giving back to the society through these events.
“We want to bring sanity and professionalism to the online media especially in Imo State and also see how we can influence social media users to ensure they post facts and not just anything that will gain them attention.”
The event will be taking place onThursday, May 31, 2018, at E-World Entertainment, #5 Oduobi Crescent Ikenegbu Layout Owerri, Imo Stateand it is expected to kick off by11:00 AMprompt.
