Anambra State Governor Willie Obiano has granted amnesty to twenty prison inmates in the state in commemoration of the 2018 Democracy Day celebration.

The ex-convicts who were picked from various prisons in the state have two non-indigenes included in the number of those set free.

The two non-indigenes include Mr. Augustine Emelue, an indigene of Delta State andSundayAgbo from Ebonyi State respectively.

Addressing the freed prisoners, Obiano advised them to stay away from trouble by being good citizens of the State and Nigeria at large.

He promised to empower them with seed money to help them fend for themselves since most of them have been incarcerated for more than five years.

Responding on behalf of the freed inmates, Okonkwo from Abatete thanked Governor Willie Obiano for effecting their release

He informed the governor that they had undergone training in various skills while serving their time in the prison promising that the skills would be put to judicious use, as well as the money given to them by the governor.

They applauded the governor over his security exploits and promised to key into the state governments policies to develop Anambra State.
