Obiano charges new commissioners, advisers, demands 100% loyalty •Signs jumbo budget

Anambra State Governor, Willie Obiano yesterday swore in 19 new commissioners and nine special advisers with the following tough words: “The task ahead is tall but with God on our side, we shall deliver. I demand 100% loyalty and if anyone is found wanting, I won’t hesitate relieving the person of his duties immediately. Let us work together to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people of Anambra State.”

Among the commissioners sworn-in at the Government House in Awka are former Managing Director, Sun Newspapers, Chief Anthony Onyima (Information); Mr. Anali Chude (Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice); Mrs. Azuka Enemuo (Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters); Greg Obi (Finance); Architect Callistus Ilozumba (Works); Solomon Chukwu (Economic Planning and Budget), Lawrence Chinwuba (Housing); Ifeatu Onejeme (Trade and Commerce); Dr. Victoria Chukwuelu (Women Affairs); Dr. Chinedu Emeka (Public Utilities and Water Resources); Chief Tony Nnachetam (Youth & Sports); and Chukwuma Mbonu (Transport).

Others are Stella Onuorah (Lands, Survey and Urban Development); Everest Uba (Environment); Prof. Kate Omenugha (Education); Nobert Obi (Special Duties); Dr. Josephat Akabuike (Health); Obi Nwankwo (Science and Technology); and Nnamdi Mekoh (Agriculture).

The Special Advisers sworn-in are Alex Ejesieme (Legal Matters); Vivian Nwandu (MDG); Anthonia Tabansi (Special Duties); Amaka Ilobi (Public Utilities); Ngozi Okonkwo (IGR); Chidi Ibezim (Youth Empowerment); Chikodi Anara (Security); and Amechi Okwube (Urban Development).

Governor Obiano described them as some of the finest people in the state, urging them to live and abide by their oath of office.

Responding on behalf of the new executive, the new Attorney General of the State, Anali Chude, while thanking the governor for giving them the opportunity to serve, assured that they will discharge their duties diligently and abide by the oath of they have taken.

“We swore amongst us to keep pace with you, we will always be at your back and we are not going to be found wanting,” he said.

Governor Obiano at the occasion also signed into law the 2014 Appropriation bill recently passed by the state House of Assembly which he tagged “Budget for Family and Wealth Creation”.

According to him, the N145.4b budget which represents 24% increase from the last state budget, is anchored on his four pillars of development: Agriculture, Trade and commerce, Oil and Gas and Industries.

He assured that the budget would be implemented fully while additional funds would be sourced to beef it up if need be.
