7 policemen among casualties as Boko Haram strikes in Jigawa

Seven policemen and a civilian have been confirmed killed by suspected Boko Haram terrorists in yesterday’s dastardly attack in Gwaram Local Government Area of Jigawa State, North-West Nigeria.

News Express had yesterday afternoon broken the news of the attack, reporting that policemen were among those dead.

This has been confirmed by the Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of Police, Tambari Yabo, who spoke with newsmen in the state capital Dutse later yesterday.

The gunmen numbering about 200 reportedly invaded the town at about 1am, blew up the police station and touched a bank and the Shariah court.

Boko Haram has killed thousands of innocent persons since launching its campaign of violence in 2009 and the killings have continued despite a state of emergency imposed by the Nigerian central government on three north-eastern states, namely, Borno, Yobe and Adamawa.
