Force PRO Jimoh Moshood
The Nigeria Police Force has announced the arrest of the eighth principal suspect connected to the recent bank robbery in Offa, Kwara State, which claimed many lives with several others injured.
Addressing journalists in Abujaon Sunday, the Force Public Relations Officer, Jimoh Moshood, said that the immediate intervention of a high-powered Police investigation team deployed by the Inspector General of Police working with the Kwara State Criminal and investigation department resulted in the arrest of the eighth principal suspect.
He said the arrest of 12 suspects directly responsible for the recent killings in Donga and Bali Local Government Areas of Taraba State.
According to the Police PRO, “The Offa incident where nine Policemen and Eight (8) other persons were killed, the names of the seven suspects and the additional one suspect bringing to eight suspects arrested in connection with the incident have admitted to the various criminal roles they played in the bank’s robbery attacks.
“The suspects are assisting Police investigation into the incident, they are being withheld but will be disclosed after the arrest of the remaining suspects and completion of the investigation into the crime.
Earlieron Saturday, the Kwara State Government placed N5 million bounty on the suspects behind the robbery attack in Offa Local Government area of the state.
The Senior Special Assistant to Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed on Media and Communications, Muideen Akorede, told journalists in the state that the money will be offered to anyone who can provide information that will lead to the arrest and prosecution of the suspects.
“The governor is deeply saddened by the tragic incident that happened at Offa. He considers it to be very wicked on the part of the robbers who unleashed such violence on the people and community of Offa.
“The governor is offering N5 million bounty to anyone who provides information leading to the apprehension and prosecution of those suspected to be involved in this act. Anybody who can provide information which can lead to the apprehension and arrest and prosecution of these people will be given N5 million,” he said. (Channels TV)
