Uduaghan assures Agbarho community of govt. attention

Delta State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, has assured the Agbarho community in Ughelli North Local Government Area that government will always pay attention to its needs. The governor declared that Agbarho community has remained a fertile breeding soil for the Nigerian public and civil service as it has produced many illustrious sons and daughters who have held their own with pride and dignity.

The governor, who was represented by the Deputy Governor, Prof. Amos Utuama (SAN), stated this at the weekend during the civic reception by the Agbarho community in honour of Sir Paul Evuarherhe on his appointment as Delta State Head of Service. He noted that Agbarho is specially blessed for producing excellent officers who have distinguished themselves in various sectors of public service.

Utuama, on behalf of the community, presented an award of excellence to Evuarherhe. He used the occasion to recall sons of the community like Hon. Justice Ovie Whiskey, Gen. Obada, Brig.-Gen. Dominic Oneya (retd.), the late Mr. Jackson Adjogri and their daughter like Chief (Mrs.) Grace Ekpiwhre, who recorded exploits in their various fields of endeavour.

While commending the Agbarho community for honouring their son, he asserted that Evuarherhe doubtlessly merited his appointment due to his diligence. According to him, “Sir Paul Ovuarherhe has paid his dues. He has worked diligently; a dedicated officer, a faithful worker who works effortlessly without looking for pecuniary reward, and today, your sacrifice in the civil service has been grandly rewarded by your appointment as the Head of Service.”

The deputy governor assured that the appeal by Agbarho community will be looked into in the area of infrastructure development, assuring that they will be given their proper place in the scheme of things in the development of Delta State. He also asserted that Agbarho community will eventually develop into an urban centre when the Osubi International Airport is completed and becomes fully operational due to its neighbouring affiliations with Warri and Effurun.

The President General, Agbarho Improvement Union, Brig.-Gen. Oneya (retd.), in his address expressed gratitude to the state governor for his large-heartedness in using his discretion in accordance with excellence in making their son the Head of Service.

Dignitaries present at the occasion included the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Peter Onwunsanya, Secretary to the State Government, Comrade Ovuzuorie Macaulay, members of the state House of Assembly, commissioners, top politicians, traditional rulers and chiefs, permanent secretaries, directors and managers of the state ministries and parastatals.
