There are reports that the Boko Haram insurgents are on their way to Dapchi, the community where they abducted over 100 schoolgirls a month ago.
According to our correspondent who is in the town, residents heard about the rumour in the early hours of the day.
One of the residents who spoke with us said that the town has been deserted as many are not sure of the mission of the insurgents.
“We heard about it this morning. We are told that they are about 70km away from Dapchi. Most of the residents are leaving the town,” he said.
However, some residents are hopeful that the insurgents want to return Sharibu Leah, the only girl still with them.
According to report, the insurgents refused to release Leah with her mates because she declined to convert to Islam during her over 30 days in Boko Haram captivity.
Our correspondent also reported that the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris is expected to visit the school where the abduction took place.
He noted that there is heavy concentration of security forces at the extreme end of the northern part of the town. (Daily Trust)
