The Special Anti Cultism Squad (SPACS) of the Anambra State Police Command has arrested seven cultists at Ozubulu, Ekwusigo Local Government Area, Anambra State.
The arrested cultists were three members of the Supreme Vikings Fraternity (SVF) and four Junior members of the Vikings Confraternity (JVC).
One of the suspects, Emeka Ibe, who openly pleaded for forgiveness, said that he usually lied to his wife that he was attending night vigil on the nights he went for their meetings.
Ibe who is a father of three said the night meetings were mostly for the initiation of new members into SVC.
Another suspect, Chukwunonso Alinonu, a father of four and member of the SVC fraternity confessed that the three of them arrested were the initiation executioners in the cult.
He vowed never to involve himself again in cultism if he regains his freedom adding that they were all carpenters before their arrest.
On his part, Nwabueze Chinedu, another member of the SVC regretted that he was lured into cultism by a friend and pleaded for mercy.
Also arrested is a member of Eiye fraternity, Okechukwu Igwe, from Ebonyi state, who was arrsted at Awada, Idemili North Local Government Area.
Speaking on the arrest, the SPACS Commander, Mr.Christopher Bassey (CSP) said the suspects would be arraigned in court shortly.
