Irish Ambassador in Akwa Ibom, pledges improved trade, biz relationships with Nigeria

Trade and business relationships between Nigeria and Ireland will soon witness a boom, the Irish Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Patrick Fay, has said. He stated this yesterday during a courtesy visit on Akwa Ibom State Governor, Chief Godswill Akpabio, at Governor’s Office, Uyo. Mr. Fay was accompanied by his wife, Deldra and son, Neil.

The Ambassador acknowledged the inadequate trade and business relationships between his country and Nigeria, pledged Irish Government determination to forge a stronger relationship in this direction.
He hinted that his country was keen to develop links with Akwa Ibom, saying that he was looking forward to visiting again to strengthen the ties.
The Ambassador commended the Governor on his development strides, noting: “It is an example of what development is all about.”
Mr. Fay who thanked Akwa Ibom people for conferring “Obong Uforo Akwa Ibom” chieftaincy title on him assured to bring their expertise to the development of the state.
In his remarks, Governor Akpabio congratulated Mr. Fay on the conferment of a chieftaincy title by the traditional rulers in the state, pointing that the honour was for the progress and development of the state.
Chief Akpabio stated that he was burning with the desire to assist in the development of the state and lauded the Ambassador’s efforts to liaise with European Union to bring business to Nigeria.
He promised to engage the expertise of an Irish company, P.W. Group led by Joe Odiscol, in some construction works in the state.
