Workers in Imo State will spend two weeks at home enjoying the Yuletide as Governor Rochas Okorocha has directed that they proceed on two weeks vacation to enable them enjoy the Christmas and New Year celebrations with their families
According to a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Sam Onwuemedo, the Governor said the workers would vacate for the Christmas on Friday, December 22 and resume on Monday, January 8, 2018.
“The Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha has, in his usual concern for the welfare of workers in the State Civil Service, has directed that the workers vacate for the Christmas on Friday, December 22, 2017 and resume on Monday, January 8, 2018.
“Workers on essential duties are exempted from this development.
“The Governor has always given workers in the state workforce reasonable time every Christmas to enable them celebrate with their loved ones.
“Already, government has paid salary to workers in the state up to December to enable them also enjoy the Christmas,” he said.
Meanwhile, Imo workers have lamented that they could be spending the Yuletide without their November and December salaries.
They said despite announcement by the State Government that their salaries are being paid, they have not got it, and wondered how they could celebrate with their families without money. (The Oracle)
