The Kaduna Refinery and Petrochemical Company (KRPC) has donated school equipment worth millions of naira to the Kaduna State University (KASU) Kafanchan Campus.
In his speech while presenting the equipment to the leader of the KASU delegation, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academy of the University, Professor Ado Ahmed, at KRPC premises in Kaduna on Thursday, Adewale Ladengan, an engineer and Managing Director of KRPC, observed that many nations are developing very fast in education while Nigeria is still far behind.
He declared that Nigeria must recover lost grounds in education, catch up with and even surpass some of the developing countries.
Mr. Adawale prayed for Nigeria’s young ones to be very talented and energetic in their educational pursuits.
He advised that where facilities are lacking, Nigerians need to do more to upgrade the facilities by joint venture from industries and donor partners.
Contributing, Mallam Abdullahi Idris, Executive Director Services (EDS) KRPC, noted that it is in the tradition of KRPC to be socially responsible to the people surrounding it and to support in areas of education, skill acquisition and also infrastructure.
“We are just glad that Kaduna State University owned by the Kaduna State Government, which is our host government, has now become a beneficiary of this gesture.
“The relationship has been there and we have been taken your students on Industrial Attachment with a very large number of them and we consider it as a social service.
“Sometimes we go out of the requirement and take more than the number because we know we may be the only functional big Corporation that is there to provide this, especially for those in the technical and science,” he added.
Mr. Idris hoped that the event would bring very lasting and positive relationships between the two institutions.
Responding, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Kafancahn Campus, Prof. Ado Ahmed, affirmed that the gesture is coming at a very critical time when the needed such help.
“The National Universities Commission has been carrying out accreditation exercise and the donation is coming at the right time.
“On behalf of the University Council Management, Staff and Student of Kaduna State University, Kafancahn Campus, we want to sincerely thank you for the kind gesture,” he stated.
Prof Ahmed assured that all the items will be put into judicious use.
