The initiative seeks to create a platform for government representatives in the criminal justice and anti-corruption enforcement to engage with Non-Governmental Organisations, Media, Labour Movement, Youth and citizens on anti-corruption and administration of criminal justice policies and programmes of the government.
According to Mr. Olanrewaju Suraju, Chairman of HEDA Resource Centre, the ACSR platform at the federal level and later at selected states will meet, share thoughts, concerns, challenges and jointly seek ways of forging collaborative efforts towards the objectives of fighting corruption through public ownership of the process. In his words, “The central thrust is to build synergies between anticorruption CSOs, the labor movement and law enforcement agencies, the Parliament and Judiciary as a means of improving and broadening the anti-corruption agenda as well as creating an accountability loop and feedback mechanism between anti-corruption agencies, the civil society organisations and the citizens.”
The Minster of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Muhammed, is to deliver the keynote address and officially launch the Situation Room. Also expected are leadership of the National Assembly, Judiciary, Heads of Anti-Corruption agencies, media representatives and Civil Society Oganisations. The public presentation will be chaired by Professor Abdullahi Shehu, renowned former Director General of West African Inter-Governmental Agency against Money Laundering.
