Over 3,000 participants are expected at the fifth National Convention of Muslim Public Affairs Centre (MPAC) holding in Lagos on Saturday.

MPAC is an incorporated public service agency working for Muslim Defense, Muslim Empowerment and Promoting Individual Liberties, religious, civil and political rights of Nigerian muslims.

The fifth National Convention of the centre is a platform that would bring together leaders of thought in Nigeria. The theme of the convention holding at National Theatre, Iganmu is “Public Trust and Accountability” with Daily Trustnewspapers as a media partner.

Executive Chairman of the Centre, Mr. Disu Kamar, in a chat with Daily Trust, said the convention would also promote inter-faith dialogue as speakers cut across religious divides.

He said the theme of the session was chosen to galvanise discussion on the imperatives of accountability in public service while reminding the Muslim public servants to see public service as a platform for service and not for personal aggrandizement.

Under the chairmanship of the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammed Saad Abubakar, the two-day event would feature speakers including Dr. Muiz Banire, National Legal Adviser of APC; Dr. Fatimah Hendricks, Madina Institute, South-Africa; Dr. Abdulhakeem Abdullateef, Commissioner for Home Affairs, Lagos; Human Rights Activist, Mr. Femi Falana; President Women Arise, Dr. Joe Okei-Odumakin, among others.

“This is a strong platform to exchange ideas as well as to forge national unity around issues of great importance to the Muslim community and the society at large,” Kamar said.

He added that the forum would also address the nagging concern over matrimonial problem by providing opportunity for couples and intending couples to meet with counselors who would provide them with useful hint for successful marital life.

Kamar said: “We are bringing Muslims, non-Muslims their perspectives on issues we share in common and the challenges we face as Nigerians. It is a platform for inter-faith dialogue and people from outside the country are also coming.”

Also speaking Head of Event Team, Abdulrahman Adogie said it would be a fun-filled family event that also caters for children, teenagers and adults in the society. (Daily Trust)
