The Nigeria Police Force has arrested a Woman, Doris Ossai, with 187 bags of weeds suspected to be Indian hemp in Masaka, Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
The Force spokesman, CSP Jimoh Moshood, disclosed this while addressing newsmen in Abuja on Friday.
He said that the arrest followed a coordinated operation by the Inspector-General of Police’s Special Tactical Squad on Dec. 12.
“The Inspector-General of Police’s Special Tactical Squad working on active intelligence arrested the suspect on Dec. 12 in Masaka area of Nasarawa State,” he said.
Moshood added that efforts were being intensified to apprehend other suspects connected with the crime still at large.
He said that the Inspector-General of Police had directed that all black spots across the country must be cleared of criminal elements terrorising Nigerians.
The suspect who spoke to newsmen denied the allegation, adding that she was a fish seller and the owner of the house where the substance was found.
She explained that the house was rented by one Monday Osaze who told her that he was going to bring his family to occupy it.
The spokesman said that the suspect would be charged to court on completion of investigation. (NAN)
