Second Niger Bridge taking shape
Work will soon resume on the construction of the Second Niger Bridge, the Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, announced on Friday in Lagos.
Fashola made the disclosure while briefing civil society organisations on the activities of his ministry.
“The fourth phase of the budget needed for the work was applied for since March but was only released two weeks ago,” Fashola disclosed.
He said that the Federal Government is also attending to the issue of compensation of those displaced by the project.
The project is being handled by construction giants Julius Berger.
Fashola, who did not disclose how much was released for the project, also announced that work would soon begin on the rehabilitation of 69 federal roads across the country as part of efforts by the Muhammadu Buhari administration to reduce the suffering of Nigerians.
Held in the Surulere area of Lagos, the forum was attended by representatives of several civil society organisations in the former federal capital.
