MNJTF Force Commander, Maj-Gen Lucky Irabor
More troops have joined the war against Boko Haram terrorists, the latest being from Nigeria’s immediate neighbour, Benin Republic. The troops were recently inducted into the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) and welcomed by the Force Commander (FC), Major General Lucky Irabor.
A statement issued on Wednesday by MNJTF Chief Military Public Information Officer, Colonel Mustapha Anka, said Gen. Irabor, “while welcoming the Benin Contingent into MNJTF family at Farcha Camp, Ndjamena, Chad,” urged them to be good ambassadors of MNJTF.
General Irabor, according to Col. Anka, used the opportunity “to remind the troops of their task, which involves Garrison duties for the MNJTF.
“The FC thanked the President of Benin Republic, government and good people of Benin for their unflinching support and cooperation in the fight against insurgency within the Lake Chad Basin Region. General Irabor also appreciated the Honorable Minister of Defence, Chief of Defence Staff and Service Chiefs of Benin Republic for their commitments at ensuring the contingent’s arrival to the mission.
“The FC reminded the troops of the need to be law abiding, disciplined and remain professional in the discharge of their duties.
“Earlier, the FC was welcomed into the camp by the Contingent Commander/Officer Commanding, Commandant Datri Bienvenue Nonti, who introduced his officers and the men to the FC.
“The contingent comprises eight officers and the 142 soldiers. This event witnessed tour of the camp facilities by the FC.
“During the visit General Irabor was accompanied by the Deputy Force Commandant (DFC), Brigadier General Mahamat Moussa Djoui, and Chiefs of cells from the headquarters of MNJTF.”
