The Nigerian Senate has directed the Inspector General of Police, IGP Ibrahim Idris, to immediately restore thera State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano, which were withdrawn on Tuesday‎.

This followed a point of order raised by Senator Emmanuel Bwacha‎, Taraba South, who condemned the sudden withdrawal of the security details of the governor.

‎Senator Bwacha also warned that if action is not taken, the trend will spiral into a phenomenon that would portent danger to Nigeria’s democracy.

‎S‎upporting the Motion, Senator Biodun Olujimi of Ekiti South also condemned the reported withdrawal of the governor’s security aids and called for an immediate reinstatement.

‎In his remarks, President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, while sustaining the voice votes in favour of the issue raised, directed its committee on police affairs to ensure compliance and report back to the senate on the next legislative day.

The lawmakers took turns to condemn the police boss for claiming that the security men were withdrawn to allow a level playing field for all contestants in the forthcoming governorship election in Anambra State.‎‎
