The Value and Integrity Group has vehemently rejected the appointment of those it regards as tainted lawyers as members of the 15-member committee recently appointed by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Honourable Justice Walter Onnoghen, to monitor judges trying corruption cases.

A statement signed by the Secretary of the group, Oludare Popoola, named Mr. Joseph B. Daudu SAN, a former President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), as one of such lawyers.

“Value and Integrity Group supports the principle and motive behind the committee but vehemently rejects the membership of those lawyers reputed for constituting cog in the wheel of Successful prosecution of people accused of corruption, as Daudu was openly accused by a judge with unimpeachable integrity,” the statement said.

It accused J.B. Daudu SAN of delaying the trial of corruption cases, citing the case of former National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki (rtd). For which it said that Daudu was once berated by Justice Hussein Baba Yusuf of an Abuja High Court.
