A Magistrate Court in Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State, on Thursday remanded one Umaru Lawali Argungu, 32, for allegedly defiling a five-year-old in Argungu, Argungu Local Government.
The accused person was arraigned before the Chief Magistrate Court by Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps Kebbi State Command with case number BK/CDC/89c/2017 vs Umaru Lawali Argungu for alleged defiling of five-year old Mansura Abdullahi at Unguwar Yar Dole, in Argungu.
Mr. Argungu denied the allegation and pleaded not guilty when the charges were read to him in court.
The NSCDC prosecutor, Inspector Bello Sani, said the offence is punishable under Section 282 of the Panel Code.
“But, since the accused person has denied committing the offence, the prosecution will front load evidence to prove the case,” the prosecutor said.
The Chief Magistrate, Mukhtar Tafarki, ordered that the accused person be remanded in prison custody.
The case was adjourned to December 8, 2017 to enable the prosecution conclude preparation for its case file and present its evidence.
