The Governor said the renovation is with a view to providing conducive environment for the induction of successive batches of corps members deployed to the state.

“I have been informed that this event is meant to afford the NYSC operators and representatives of key collaborating agencies ample opportunity to map out strategies for hitch-free conduct of the forthcoming orientation programme,” he added.
El-Rufai commended the management of NYSC for recognising the need for adequate planning and consultation which, according to him, “are necessary ingredients for attaining organisational goals.”
“I am indeed happy to note the improvement made in corps deployment process as well as relevant additions to the course content of the orientation programme in line with current national needs,” he said.
The Governor assured that his administration will continue to partner with the scheme in the state with a view to assisting it to achieve its mandate.
He described the NYSC scheme, widely regarded as an enduring national legacy as a vehicle for national cohesion, leadership training and youth reorientation.
He urged the management and staff of the scheme not to relent in using it as a platform to continuously rekindle patriotic feeling and loyalty of youths to the nation.
Earlier in his address, the Director Generalof NYSC, Brigadier General Suleiman Kazaure disclosed that the orientation course, as one of the four cardinal points of NYSC, is very significant as it introduces news sets of corps members to the objectives and programmes of the scheme.
“Being the launch-pad for the service year, the quality of management of the course goes a long way to make lasting impression on the corps members and influence their commitment to the service of the fatherland.
“Permit me to use this occasion to remind all and sundry that the lawmakers establishing NYSC places the responsibility of provision and maintenance of orientation camps with state government, I therefore wish to reiterate our call on them to live up to this statutory responsibility.”
Kazaure thanked the state government for supporting the scheme through the provision and upgrading of orientation camps.
“We are sincerely grateful to the state government for the routine renovation of the orientation camp and the extension of other forms of support to the NYSC secretariat in the state,” he said.
