The Rapid Response Squad of the Lagos State Police Command says it has brought violent killings that erupted in the Okokomaiko area of the state under control.
Trouble was said to have started last Friday, when an incident between a Suya seller and one Bashiru Ahmed who was identified as the son of Sarki Hausawa of Okokomaiko resulted in a conflict.
Ahmed and his gang were said to have, in a rage thrown the Suya seller’s meat on the floor and left, provoking further anger.
According to the Police, the Suya man and some sympathi’ers subsequently headed for Bashiru’s father’s Palace to register their complaint.
Although the Sarki, Alhaji Adamu Ahmed Gaya, promised to pay for the lost Suya but the owner declined the compensation. But on the following day, the Suya seller was shot and killed by two assailants who escaped from the scene of the crime.
“The Police swung into action and arrested Bashiru Ahmed who is suspected to have had hands in the murder.”
The Police also disclosed that on Sunday, “friends of the deceased Suya man sighted an associate of Bashiru Ahmed, pursued and killed him near Alaba rago and moved to the Palace of the Sarki and set it ablaze.
“The Area Commander, Area E, ACP Auwal Musa, the Commander RRS Tunji Disu and officers of Ops Mesa were on the ground to maintain peace.”
