Thunderstorm
There are prospects of isolated thunderstorms and rainfall across the country in the next 72 hours with respites at intervals, the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) said on Sunday. Below are details of its predictions about the country’s weather condition for today, Monday, September 18, 2017:
NORTHERN STATES: A Cloudy morning is expected over the north while partly cloudy condition is expected later in the day except over Kano, Zaria, and Katsina where isolated
thunderstorms are anticipated in the afternoon/evening. Day and night temperature values are anticipated to be in the ranges of 30 – 34oC and 23 – 25oC respectively.
CENTRAL STATES: Isolated and thunderstorms and rains are likely over Ilorin, Bida and Lokoja while the rest of the cities should be cloudy in the morning hours. But later in afternoon/evening periods, isolated thunderstorms are anticipated over Minna, Abuja, Makurdi, Lafia, Jos, Mambilla Plateau and Yola axis. Day and night temperature values are expected to be in the range of 29 – 32oC and 20 – 24oC respectively except Jos at 26/18oC.
SOUTHERN REGION: Cloudy morning is expected over Abakaliki, Enugu, Owerri, Umuahia and Awka while the rest of the region should anticipate isolated rains. Later in the day, there are prospects isolated rains over Abakaliki, Enugu, Owerri, Umuahia, Ijebu-Ode, Ikeja, Port Harcourt, Calabar, Eket and their environs. Day and night temperature values are expected to be in the range of 27 – 31oC and 22 – 24oC respectively.
