Anambra PDP governorship candidate Oseloka Obaze
The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Anambra State, Mr. Oseloka Obaze has hailed the National Caretaker Committee of the party for upholding the August 28, 2017 primary election of the party in Anambra State that produced him as the party’s flag bearer.
Obaze, who spoke in a statement made available to journalists in Awka on Sunday, commended the party’ s leadership for taking time to listen to all expressed concerns and dealing exhaustibly with all related petitions before arriving at a decision.
He also praised all the people involved in the ongoing conciliation saying that such due process measures reaffirm the democratic ideals and the vibrancy of the internal workings of PDP and the leadership's commitment to charting a new course.
His words: “I am elated and thankful that the National Caretaker Committee of our great party, PDP, has upheld the outcome of the 28 August 2017 primary elections that produced me as the Candidate of the PDP for the November 18, 2017 Governorship Election in Anambra State.
“I thank God for this development. I salute the leadership of the party for listening carefully to all expressed concerns and dealing exhaustively with all related petitions before arriving at its findings.”
While acknowledging that some residual challenges remain, Obaze stressed that even as politics, party and processes are not perfect that, as such, any perceived shortcomings of the electoral processes cannot be ignored.
He further urged aspirants who feel aggrieved to engage with him in constructive dialogue adding that prevailing differences can be easily resolved through dialogue and consultations.
He said: “My message has always been consistent; the PDP umbrella is large enough to accommodate us all. As such, let us set aside our differences and work together to achieve victory for our great party come 18 November, 2017.
“We should consider the ramifications of PDP not wining the forthcoming elections. We certainly do not wish for Ndi Anambra to spend the next four years of their lives as they have over the past three years.
“Anambra deserves better and must forge ahead with the much-needed human capital development and good governance, which our people yearn for.”
