The Omuo Students’ Union has frowned at the suspension of Hon. Fakana Ojo-Ade, representing Ekiti-East Constituency 1.
The Union in a statement issued on Wednesday by its President, Com. Olajide Omotayo (Harmony), and General Secretary, Com. Aderotimi Ayoade Benjamin (Mustard), described the action as an insult to democracy.
“Of a truth, there is always an expression of interests and personal values at every terrains and grounds, but we make bold to say that the sole interest of the people should be put a priority, if truly we claim we follow a democratic pattern of governance in Ekiti State. It’s of utmost importance we still uphold the rights we have as citizens of our nation.
“It is crystal clear to all that the sole basis for the suspension can be best described as void and does not align with the tenets of true democracy.
“We hereby call on the Ekiti State House of Assembly to reverse its verdicts if really it upholds sustainable model guided by sincerity and truth which posits our true democracy,” the statement read.
