Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) has affirmed that the university resumption for the rain semester remains as scheduled without any hint of alteration.
The Dean of Students’ Affairs, Prof. I.O. Aransi made the clarification while reacting to questions on the possibility of the university joining the ongoing Academic Staff of Universities (ASUU) nationwide strike after the university completion of examination as rumoured.
He waved aside, every possibilities of the university joining the strike with an assurance that the students should put their mind at rest and prepare for the second semester as scheduled in the calendar.
“There is no information or any indication that the university is going to join the ongoing ASUU strike even after the semester examination. Let the students put their mind at rest. The resumption for the second semester remains as scheduled in the calendar.”
Also reacting, the university Chairman of Non Academic Staff Union (NASU), Comrade Wole Odewumi, said the university chapter of NASU will not be part of the ongoing nationwide strike of the union, as it is with the university Academic Staff, ASUU.
“I have met with my own congress. In OAU, we have an issue with the national body of our Union, just like that of the university ASUU, and in our congress, we have agreed not to join the strike, work continues.”
