Boko Haram terrorists
Six members of the vigilante youth group popularly known as Civilian JTF, have been killed by Boko Haram militants who came firing guns towards an IDPs camp in Ngala Local Government Area of Borno State.
Our correspondent learnt that due to lack of means of communication in those parts of the state, the story of the attack on Friday night only filtered into Maiduguri yesterday and without details.
The Executive Director of the Network of the Civil Society Organizations in the state, Ambassador Ahmed Shehu, who shared the story with newsmen, said the attackers came in two pickup trucks and fired an RPG into the camp from behind the rear fence.
“The explosion was followed by a suicide bomber, who attacked the International School Camp through the back axis of Wulgo/Zannari wall. Unfortunately, six Civilian JTF on duty were killed,” he said, adding that there was a gunfire afterwards.
Meanwhile, troops of the Operation Lafiya Dole had on Sunday morning laid an ambush on a group of suspected Boko Haram insurgents crossing point at Bocost along Ngurosoye - Bama road in the state, killing many of them and recovering sophisticated weapons.
Army Spokesman, Brig.-Gen. Sani Usman, in a statement shared with newsmen in Maiduguri yesterday by Capt. Immanuel Onyeachonam, said the troops of 151 Battalion, 21 Brigade Nigerian Army, had neutralised a large number of the Boko Haram terrorists, while other terrorists sustained gunshot wounds.
