Nine students and three members of staff have been dismissed by the Federal University, Dutsinma in Katsina State, for their involvement in examination malpractice.
“The student and the staff were caught engaging in the malpractice during the semester examinations,” Prof. Armuyau Bichi, the Acting Vice Chancellor, told journalists on Monday in Dutsinma town in Katsina State.
“The university anti-malpractice committee investigated the case properly before taking the decision to dismiss them.
“The committee also investigated the role played by the staff and they were found wanting and the management of the university dismissed them.
“The university relied heavily on the evidence found against the students and the staff before they were dismissed,” he said.
Bicihi disclosed that the university had given the students, academic and non academic staff the right to report any wrong doing to SERVICOM office within the university campus.
“We have empowered the office in the university with the aim of protecting both the student and the staff from harassment by the authority.
“We have established cordial working relations with the academics, non-academics and student so as to achieve the desired goal,” he said
The Vice Chancellor commended the Katsina State Government for investing heavily in the provision of infrastructure in the university.
He however assured that the school would continue to promote the interest of both students and staff, especially in welfare related issues.
