Media entrepreneur Agatha Amata
Media entrepreneur and ‘Inside Out’ Talk show host Agatha Amata, has stepped down as the host after 20 glorious years.
Speaking with Rubbin Minds on Channels Television she explained her reasons as well as the plans she has ahead.
“I am stepping down not aside, there gets to a point in your life when you know it is time to move on but I also realized that inside out is bigger than me. The feedback I have gotten from inside out told me that there was a need to sustain it even if it is not me.
“I found out that I was losing touch with what was happening and I wasn’t communicating well with the youth on their level, so I knew it was time to move on.”
Meanwhile, a new host for the show has emerged following Agatha’s reality show ‘The Search’. Speaking of how she came about ‘The Search’, Agatha said:
“The first thing I wanted was a right value system when the audition notice went out, I remember when we had the press conference and somebody asked me so what is the price tag, I said there is no price tag because it is about service and people were asking me are you sure anybody will show up and to my shock in the audition we had about 500 people.
“When they asked most of the people who came for audition why do you want to do this, their answer was I want to make a difference, I want to change the society, so what it told me is that there is actually an impression that has been created by the programme so I knew we were on the right path because if we said no price money and all these people showed up then there is hope, it means there are still people who believe in doing the right thing.”
Speaking of the winner, Sandra Eze, Agatha explained why she believes she can handle it.
“Throughout the competition, it was really tough between Sandra, Charles and Damilola, what made Sandra stand out for me was the fact that she could own her own space.
“She practically took over the show, she was herself, the audience was comfortable. It became her thing, she had control of her guest and audience yet she was herself. She was a strong personality yet it was Inside Out. It wasn’t me but there was no vacuum and that was what I was looking for.
On her next plans, Agatha said she would be focusing on her Radio and Television stations.
“I already have my hands full anyway, first of all, there is Rave TV, Trend Fm in Asaba. I have a TV and radio station which pretty much are still struggling so they need my full attention.
“Beyond that, what I love is mentoring, doing my social responsibility. So the Inside Out with Agatha Foundation is just going to continue. Training teachers, empowering widows, getting partners, I love that and I am never going to stop that.” (Channels TV)
