Anambra Police Commissioner Danmallam Mohammed
In its renewed fight against crime and criminality, the Enugu State Police Command at the weekend raided a hideout of suspected criminals in the state, arresting three members of a gang.
The raid followed an intelligence information by its operatives at the Oji River Division.
The suspects are believed to have over time, terrorised motorists plying Ugwuoba/Awka/Oji Roadand its environs.
The suspects, who gave their names as Sale Haruna, Emmanuel Ephraim and Uduku Sampson, were nabbed when their hideout at Gariki Ugwuoba area of the state was uncovered on Saturday evening by operatives acting on intelligence information.
In a statement made available to newsmen in Enugu by the state Police image maker, DSP EbereAmaraizu, the Command said items recovered from the suspects included machete and daggers.
According to Amaraizu, the suspects, alongside other gang members who are now at large and being searched for by the operatives, had robbed and inflicted machete and dagger injuries as well using gun on motorists and commuters along Enugu/Onitsha Expressway by Ugwuoba axis.
The suspects are now helping the Police with information in connection with their nefarious activities ranging from their past robbery activities and other crimes.
It was further gathered that the action of the Oji River Police Division was in compliance with the directives of the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Danmallam Mohammed on intelligence policing, community relations and partnership as well as raid of all suspected criminal hideouts in the state.
Meanwhile, Mohammedhas assured that the command, in partnership with other sister security agencies and relevant stakeholders, would continue to do its best to ensure that crime is prevented and anyone caught in the same manner would be unmasked as quickly aspossible since the command is not resting on its oars in policing the state.
