Brandish names Omoyele, Okusaga for 2nd ‘Meeting of Minds’ discourse

Marketing and public relations practitioners, Lampe Omoyele and Bolaji Okusaga have been lined up to lead the discourse at the second edition of the BRANDish ‘Meeting of Minds’.

BRANDish ‘Meeting of Minds,’ is a conversation platform created to deliberate on diverse issues in marketing and communication in Nigeria and to proffer solutions on some of the issues raise.

The second edition is scheduled for August 4, 2017 at the Ibis Hotel, Toyin Street Ikeja Lagos.

With the Theme, “In Search of the Right Purpose for the Nigerian Brand”, the event aims to aggregate ideas and market-oriented strategies for a fit-for-purpose positioning statement by Nigeria before the rest of the world.

Analyst-in-Chief, BRANDish, Mr. Ikem Okuhu, said discussions such as this have become urgent especially because Nigeria has over the years struggled to find a fitting purpose for the country, adding that most previous efforts have not worked because they were anchored on emotions that are clearly antithetical to the reality of the country on ground and which were not designed for the nation to profit from the global business space.

He stressed that nation marketing must of necessity factor real and measurable economic purpose statements and realistic structures to make that achievable and noted that discussions with professionals are required to enable Nigeria maximise opportunities for the country in the face of the scale of capital preferences in the world.

“The real end of any nation marketing campaign has to be predesigned to generate, not just positive emotions to but resonate in the marketplace of goods, services and ideas. If there is no design to ensure there are real tie-ins for business, such a campaign serves no real use,” Mr. Okuhu stated.

He said the two experts invited to deliver papers at the event have been selected because of their successes in managing big ticket marketing and Public Relations portfolios in Nigeria and expressed the belief that they are capable of providing strong messages that will enable serious conversations that will lead to a fresh review of all frameworks for future successful nation marketing activities by Nigeria.

Lampe Omoyele, who will be speaking on the topic, “The Economics of Evolving a Market-Led Nation Proposition for Nigeria”, is a business leader, marketing expert, coach and public speaker with over 25 years experience gained in leading multinational companies.

Bolaji Okusaga on his part is a strategy and brand enthusiast with wide experience in the Mass-Media, Marketing, Public Relations and Banking. He currently runs one of Nigeria’s largest Public Relations Consultancy (The Quadrant Company) with multi-national clients, position that has enabled him to deliver the right perception for these clients using a combination of brand communication, reputation management, media relations, corporate lobby and government relations. He will speak on “Foreign Direct Investment and the Power of a Made-for-Purpose, Non-Emotional PR for Nigeria.”
