For the family of Ugonna Kelechi Obuzor, one of the four University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) students extra-judicially killed by the school’s host community, Aluu, of Rivers State, South-South Nigeria, it doesn’t rain – it pours.
Just as they were mourning the murder of their future hope, Ugonna’s mother also suddenly died, unable to overcome the shock of the gruesome killing of her only son, who, alongside his friends Llyod Toku, Chiadikobi Biringa, Tekena Elkanah were lynched over what appears to be a false accusation of stealing phone handsets and laptops.
The death of Ma Obuzor was announced last night by the moderator of the online community, Anambra-WorldForum.
The short announcement said: “Ugona's mum died dis moning, she culdnt survive d shock of her son's death, since Ugona is her only son, ALuu community has killed mother nd sons. please rebrocast.”
Ugonna (shown in photo) was a Geology 200 level student as at the time of his murder.
The killing of the four young men now referred to as the Aluu 4 has outraged Nigerians and sparked reprisal attacks by Nigerian students under the umbrella of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS).
The police have confirmed the arrest of 13 suspects in connection with the dastardly act.
