Singer Chidolie Onwuamadike aka Dilliy
The younger brother of the billionaire kidnap kingpin, Chidumeje Onwuamadike a.k.a Evans has taken to music as a way of calming himself down from the negative media attention that recently befell his family following the arrest of his brother.
In an exclusive interview with News Express, the 26 years old Chidolie Onwuamadike, a step brother to Chidumeje (Evans), said that the arrest of his brother and negative reports generated by it on the internet and the pages of newspapers have taken a toll on him and the entire family.
He said that though he had been into music before now with more than 30 songs in his kitty, he decided to embrace it in the heat of the moment to see if he could through that bring joy to his family again and change the ugly picture.
Chidolie, who described his elder brother as a good person with a large heart, said that his arrest came as a shock to the entire family as it was difficult for him to believe that his brother was a kidnapper.
He said: “A lot of things have been written; some of them broke my heart so I decided to embrace music as a way of letting off the steam with the track ‘Brenda’. I want it to trend over my brother’s kidnap stories that have refused to die down.
“No matter the crime my brother committed, I can’t deny he is my brother. I will never stop loving him because he used to buy me my favourite biscuits and back me to school when I was a little kid.
“I have been into music for a very long time and I have at some point worked with artists like Phyno, Mr. Moi, De Kumzy among others. I was one of the artists that won an audition to perform alongside PSquare, Chidimma, Tuface, Bracket, Duncan Mighty, Flavour, Phyno and some other big artists during a show in Oraifite, Anambra State, called Blaze Blast 2012.”
Chidolie, who goes by the stage name Dilliy, appealed to the authorities to have mercy on his brother, saying that he has learnt his lessons and will turn in a new leaf.
