Dangote, Adenuga, Agbakoba lead efforts to raise funds for flood victims

Nigeria’s richest men, Alhaji Aliko Dangote and Dr. Mike Adenuga Jnr, alongside frontline human rights lawyer Mr. Olisa Agbakoba, have been charged with leading efforts to raise and manage funds to be used to assist victims of the floods that have devastated several parts of the country.

This was announced a few minutes ago by President Goodluck Jonathan in a short radio and television broadcast.

President Jonathan commiserated with the flood victims and highlighted efforts being made by his administration to assuage their sufferings. These efforts, according to him, include financial assistance to the affected states and repair of damaged infrastructure such as bridges.

The President also thanked Nigerians who have individually come to the aid of the flood victims.

This, according to him, has demonstrated that “at critical moments, Nigerians are able to come together for a common purpose.”

While Dangote (shown in photo) heads the presidential committee and Agbakoba serves as Secretary, Adenuga is to serve the Chief Mobiliser. Other members are to be announced shortly, according to President Jonathan.
