Comrade Imo Okoko
South-South youth leaders have totally condemned the eviction notice issued to Igbos in the North by some youth organisations, saying that such utterances are unacceptable. They called on security agencies to call the northern youth leaders to order.
Addressing newsmen in Abuja on Wednesday, the spokesman of the South-South youths, Comrade Imo Okoko, declared: “South-South youths would resist any attempt by the North to force Igbos or any other ethnic group to move from the North.”
Okoko noted that 90 per cent of oil wells in the Niger Delta region were owned by the North, while funds generated from the region were used to developed the North, yet the people of the region had not asked northerners to leave.
He made it clear that the solution to the increasing agitations is for the government to urgently address the injustice and lack of equity in the country.
Okoko further stressed that Nigerians need to engage in actions that would unite the country rather than those that would bring division. He advised northern leaders, especially the Sultan of Sokoto, to call their subjects to order.
