Two fake soldiers operating in parts of Delta State were on Wednesday nabbed in the state capital, Asaba, by troops of 3 Battalion Nigerian Army.
“The two suspects, Emejo Benedict and Onwusuluke Kelechi, were arrested dressed in military camouflage uniform while extorting money from commercial tricycle (Keke NAPEP) drivers and molesting their fellow civilians along Nnebisi Road, Asaba, Oshimili South Local Government Area of Delta State. The suspects have since been handed over to Nigerian Police in Asaba,” Director of Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Sani Kukasheka Usman, said.
“It is necessary to enjoin the general public to be more vigilant and security conscious because of the activities of these impostors. The general public are therefore requested to report anyone claiming to be a soldier outside a designated military locations,” the Army Spokesman said.
He advised the public to take advantage of the newly established Nigerian Army Information and Call Centre to report any such issue and other security concerns by calling the short code 193 using any of the telecommunication service providers in Nigeria or through email at na.callcentre@army.mil.ng
