Umaru el-Yakubu
Foremost entrepreneur, Umaru El-Yakubu, has identified the need to invest in transport infrastructure with a view to enhancing the development of solid mineral resources in the country.
He gave this indication in a chat withNews Expressduring the opening ceremony of the 10th anniversary of the African Finance Corporation (AFC) held early this week at Transcorp Hotel in Abuja, where he represented WAA Network.
The summit assembled financiers, developers and policy makers who brainstormed to fashion out ways of boosting the infrastructure space in Africa.
Speaking on the exploration and exploitation of solid minerals and other minerals, El-Yakubu stated: “Without a reliable rail network, we cannot viably develop some mineral resources in Nigeria. We need transport infrastructure to get all these done, because when you develop them, there is a need to transport them as some of them are heavy like metals and irons and they need rail lines to transport them from one place to the other.”
El-Yakubu also spoke on the proposed Bi-national Airport to be built around the Nigerian/Benin border in Lagos which was never thought of before. He said: “This concept will just be a situation whereby when you come out of one side, it is Nigeria, and you come out of the other side, it is Benin. So these are the benefits that these projects are bringing to us.”
